Common school system in India run by common government for a better India

This post is a byproduct of my patient listening of today's debate on the above topic held at RSC Baroda. Well, just because I'm afraid to go up to the dais does not mean that I don't have opinion about the same.
In principle I give my vote against the topic.
Common school system run by a common government system in my view is as good as Utopian concept which cannot materialize in the near future. Our constitution points towards primary education for all. But to a large extent our Government has miserably failed in the same. My friends who have talked in favour of the subject have pointed towards KVs and navodaya Vidyalayas running successfully in the government control. But my question is what percentage of students can get admission into any of these successfully run govt schools. Majority of the students in KVs, DAV schools are children of central government employees. This fact will be quite evident once we start looking into the employment scenario in the country.
As far as education is concerned all the efforts are useless unless it reaches to the root of the society and fruits of education improves the lifestyle of lower strata of the society. Many of the poor people cannot even dream of an entry to the KVs or Navodayas. Majority of them end up in state government run schools which faces either constant threat of closing down or permanent absence of teachers. This is one area where government has to come up with a solution.
Another friend has told about Ambani's and autowala's son studying together on the same bench in the same school. I firmly believe that it is quite a situation, gives a good tagline for justification. But what we actually want is common curriculum and syllabus plus abolition of all the coaching centres which would place both of them in the same platform and allows talent, hardwork and intellect to play their part rather than money and influence.
And truly education in the real sense inculcating values and ethics will lead to a better India where everyone gets what they truly deserve and questions what had gone wrong.
